What are the pros of a BOV versus a DV in this car, pray tell? More awesomer F&F sound? You don't need to be an ***, especially to people whose help your are asking. If you have a massive custom turbo set-up with stand-alone engine management, just say so, and people won't recommend that you get a DV instead.

 

yea, not the best way to get help....especially with 5 posts....good luck with that.

 

the most simple disadvange is lost pressure. hte DV takes that blow off and recycles it to the airbox to be used again, maximising the air-fuel ratio, while a BOV setup just releases that pre-pressurized air into the atmosphere. as well, your MAF is programed to be expecting a certain amount of air coming off turbo through the DV, with a BOV, you obviously don't get this air. i'm speculating that you can eliminate this CEL by replacing the 1.8T MAF with a 2.8 (along with other modification required to get the 2.8 in there and working)

 

Using a BOV doesn't cause a CEL afiak. What is this 1.8/2.8 MAF stuff, you making stuff up here or what?

hey im a newbie, im about to get an A4 so i thought i would read up on them some........ive never heard of this DV what does it stand for? it kinda sounds like what my friend had to do on his S14 with his BOV, he had to recirculate it with a hose back to the turbo i believe.....is this correct?

 

BOV is a Blow off Valve... no hose recirculating, it just throws the air into the atmosphere
DV is a Diverter Valve... this is what you're buddy woulda had (though the hose goes to the airbox, not directly to the turbo)

 

so if i was to buy a greddy intercooler kit do i still have use a dv or do i change to bov?
