Default How do you bleed the power steering system???

I recently flushed my power steering and am having a hell of a time trying to bleed the system. I have tried the Bently way (many times) and am having no luck. Anyone have any other tricks or secrets on bleeding the system?

i might be confused but the way they did mine is the filled it up and then just started to turn the wheel back and forth tell it was working again. then they put the cap on and just let it sit there tell all the air got out

That is how it is done. Just turn the steering wheel from extreme to extreme about 10 times and the air should come out.

Got it!!! The clamp was not on good on the return hose. I did it the way Bently says.

Raise the wheels off the ground top off fluid
Turn the wheels lock to lock 10 times with engine off
Lower car, top off fluid
Start car and trun the wheels lock to lock 10 times
Top off fluid
Any air left in there should bleed out in 6-12 miles of driving

I actually did that a couple of times before I drove it.
The way Jeff and David said works also
I just wasnt comfortable doing it that way since my system had a lot of air in it. It sounded like it was really straining the pump with the wheels on the ground.

Just keep on filling. Not sure what the amount is, but it should take a pint or more. The reservior holds only about 5 ournces if I remember correctly

do it first with the car OFF. keep filling and turning extreme to extreme. just let the bubbles settle. that happened to me too. they'll go away.

just keep filling and filling before you turn the car and the pump on. then repeat with the car running.

just keep filling ...

btw ... sound scared the &*^% outa me too.
