Hi there Dudes..

I got here in Brazil a 97 2.8 a4... 12v... with auto transmission, i would like to take off my auto trans. and put a manual trans. on it... I´m kind lost in the eletrical part, some one could help me out, and what i should do.

Wow....I'd sell it and buy a manual transmission car. It would certainly be the easiest solution here in the US but I don't know what the situation would be in Brazil. I'd get away from the 12V also. Get a newer B5 with 5 speed and 1.8T.

Just my opinion.

Sell it and get a manual, that would probably be less frustrating and time consuming. Besides, whether manual or auto it's still a slow 12v.

It might not be that easy for him to do that in Brazil. Probably a little difference in availability.

Anyway, its not worth it to do an auto to manual swap. Too much money and work. IF you can find another 12v thats a manual with decent miles, sell yours and pick it up. If you can find a newer 1.8t (maybe up to 01) in a manual within your pricerange, grab it! Otherwise stick with what you have right now.
