How long do rear brakes last?
I know i just posted this in another post, but how long do most peoples rear brakes last in their a4's? The last set on my car was replaced after about 20k, i replaced a friends at about 30k. The rotors were replaced w/ the pads as well. [sm=gobble.gif]
Rear brake pads usually last between 20K to 35K depending on the type of brake pad compound and type of rotors.
Stock pads are very soft so they usually go in about 15K to 20K. Low dust pads like Mintex Red and PBR/Axxis Ceramic pads are harder so they last a little longer. Also crossdrilled rotors will wear out stock pads faster.
In general you do not need to replace the rotors on every brake pad change if your calipers are in good condition and your rotors are evenly worn. Most of our customers replace rotors every other braka pads change.
