Default How long should this car last? Miles wise

Hey im new to the fourms and im looking to get an A4. I want a v6 due to the possible sludge problems with the 1.8t.

Moving on to my question.

I have been recently looking at a 96 A4 with 180K miles. It has Heated leather seats, sunroof, BOSE upgraded 8 speaker factory sound system, ski bag, digital climate control, outside temp gauge, 16' factory rims, S4 factory 3 spoke steering wheel, wood interior trim, phone jack, pretty much all the packages and options (sport, winter, premium) its also AWD.
The owner has replaced major things like the:
NEW PARTS

Timing belt & Water pump
Motor mounts
Alternator
OEM clutch
Upper control arms (driver & passenger)
Tie rod ends (inner & outter)
Oil pan and gasket
Exhaust sleeves
idle tentioner pully
02 sensor (bank 1 sensor 2)
new tires all around
Front Axels (driver & passenger)
Power steering pump
Exide battery
All filters (cabin,fuel,oil)
Full complete tune up (spark plugs and wires ect..)
recently installed HID's

He has a clean car fax all the manuals and every single recepit dating back to the original owner. Including every oil change and maintenice.

With a 180k miles and he is asking 4800$.
How long should this car last ( i will keep it maintained)
and what type of price should offer?

Thank you in advanced

it will last quite a while espacially with the repairs done to it, but he is asking too much, for something with this many miles and year you shouldnt really pay more than 4000, 4500 at the most assuming its in excellent condition, i bought mine with 140k miles it for 3500, with my repairs i can get atleast 5000-5500 because it has considerably less miles than the one your looking at and ive done lots of major repairs on it. 180k is just too much, dealers usally charge a bout 5000 for something like this.

180K miles, that is alot of miles for the price.
wow, if i sold mine i was thinking like $4000, and i only have 161k miles and more things fixed on her.
you should get the price dropped.
make sure the recalls have been taken care of, the airbags and especialy the ignition switch which recalled AGAIN late last year.
with that many miles the lower control arms and sway bar links will need replacing.
check for transmission problems. the filter could be getting clogged since he hasnt done it.
make sure you have good life in the discs and brake pads! make sure their not seazing!
check the rear axels for leaks, wear or splits in the c/v boots.
check for any oil prescence under the engine, around the driveshafts/axels, around the gearbox.
and check the spare wheel, and while thats out check for any dents in the wheel well, this would show it has had a rear impact (you can hide everything from an impact and make it look like it never happend but you can never get the dents out of the wheel well from a rear impact).

the first thing that will cuase you a problem will be the lower control arms and sway bar links (4 lower control arms {not cheap} and 2 sway bar links {$30 a peice}).
try to get that price lowered tho.

Cars last a lot longer than most people give them credit for...if a car is well maintained it can last well into the 200,000 no problem!

Thank you to all of you who answered my question. Do you have any more insight on what possible could go wrong with this car? It has basicly come down to this car or a Vw mk3 vr6 i love both cars equally but hey this is an audi.

thanks again

Yeah it will outlast you, me and my buddy decided to test how strong the engine is after 200,000 miles on his A4 1.8T. We performed a cylinder leak down test to his engine and found that the leak down was exactly 6% which is next to nothing! We also checked my 2005 chevy trail blazer which had a hair over 7% leak down with only 15k miles on it! That means the audi engine had less wear than the chevy engine at over 200,000 miles, thats impressive no matter how you look at it. By the way he was the original owner and changed the oil every 3-5k with full synthetic.
