thats my post u were talking about. Your are right, my lights are not real HID's, just look alikes. HID's, however, are not easy or cheap to install. For the true HID system, you are going to spend $300-$400 plus instalation. And you proably will need instalation since the entire headlight system needs to be replaced.
need install? i installed my own set in about an hour. its really not that hard, just cut harness and put wires together.

Is there a company that makes a nice factory fit set of projector housings for the B5 A4? I saw some cheap looking crap on ebay with halos and some factory Audi housings with projectors. Did any of the B5 A4's come with projectors from the factory? I'm looking into this as a purchase for when I get my A4 very soon.
yes audis 99.5 and up came with projectors. if you want to go aftermarket valo is the best out there. but either way you go valo or OEM you will need to do some wiring and fender trimming.

i'm willing to bet you'll get better light output with standard projector headlights than you will with HID non-projector headlights. if you do what you're talking about, the headlight itself will look much brighter, but the light output (the projection) will still be terrible.
