OK, so I read through the manual and it says to add oil by the half quart until the dipstick reads full, and I searched the forum and didn't find my answer either. I have a '98 A4 2.8Q, how much oil do I put in after an oil change?

I think its like 4.5 quarts or with the new filters maybe a little more, just buy 5
hold on thats for my 1.8, so yours would probly be a little bit more.

 

safest to just do the 1/2 quart thing the 1st time.

 

i was wondering the same thing, as i'm about to change my oil for the first time in the short while that i have owned this car. so i searched around and found that we are suppose to use 6 quarts. now to decide on what type of oil, i'm thinking Mobil 1 synthetic 0-40, and a Bosch oil filter.

 

6 quarts sounds about right....thanks jja

 

The bently manual shows 6 quarts for the 2.8 30v with filter replacement.
