It depends on how fast the other guy can shift, but there generally only a second or two slower to 60

Automatics are typically faster, in cases such as quarter mile, and straight line racing. If you're doing auto cross, or road coursing, manual transmission is better, becauses you have more control over the car.

It depends on what you're trying to do... But generally, manual cars are MUCH more fun to drive. I believe it all comes down to personal preference.

Very true, my tiptronic shifts well and is pretty quick and VERY nimble for a 4 door family car. I like the tiptronic cause all I have to do to have ALMOST (remeber I said almost) as much fun as you manual guys is flick the shitfter over to the right and i can manually shift with the push of a button or flick of the wirst. Although this is fun, the actual motion of a manual makes it more fun, but in my a/t's defense when I hit trafice I flick it back in drive and dont have to worry about a clutch. To each his/her own I always say.

Also remember that most A/T Trannys give you more Drivetrain loss... couple than with AWD.. and your loosing alot in the drivetrain.

that's a funny spelling mistake.^ ^ ^

i have and enjoy my tiptronic as well.

yeah, autos's are not more than a second slower generally. The new automatic transmissions, like audi's DSG, are much more responsive than the tiptronic transmissions and actually faster in nearly all cases than a manual. However, if you're for arguing fun and direct control, a manual will generally always "win."

And how much fun would it really be being stuck in traffic (which happens a lot in NY) having to shift in an out of first gear?

dont ******* worry about ******* swearing and **** .. thats what the ******* shitty stars are for! To protect your ******* eyes from our shitty language!

I love the Ferrari Enzo Shifter... little pull paddles... each pull.. releases the clutch... revs the engine and stiffens the rear suspension.. and does it all in about 150ms
