How often is a radiator flush to be done?

I assume you had new stuff put in when you had your timing belt changed.

the previews owner of my car replaced the timing belt at 86k i bought it with 92 and the coolant was all rust... they have to drain the coolant when they do timing belt right?

Yes you have to drain the coolant to do the TB. "All rust"?? What do you mean? The color was red?

I would guess that it is brown from mixing green stuff with G12.

If the coolant looks murky brown, it is probable that someone used the wrong coolant for the car. Have it flushed and refilled with G12 (red from Audi dealer) mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

I wouldn't assume that the coolent was change when the TB was done, some shops would test the antifreeze and if still good they will put the old stuff back in, if you cann't be sure it was done i would do a flush.

well, they added coolant to it, wheather it waqs flushed, i dont know. It also is normal green antifreeze.

it was red and i drained the coolant and some red almost brown stuff was stuck to the container.... i had atech where i work look at it for me....he said it was rust.... we took the container off t clean it up...it was really bad!!

i havnt had a problem. It was wat was used by my audi mechanic, and this was before i was on this board so i didnt know.
