Default How reliable is quattro

Hey guys

I did a search and couldnt find anything in the post so I ask you...are there constant problems with the quattro system because Ive been told to stay away from the AWD of any car and just go with the front wheel drive. This is important to my just because of the snow so can anyone confirm that this is a fact or just someones stupid opinion...thanks

I had to drive home last winter in a blizzard in which we received about 3ft of snow in about 8hours and my Quattro system rocked all the way home.I had to travel about 12 miles home from work that afternoon and i passed many a stuck vehicle on my way. I would say if your in an area where a situation like this can be a factor go for the Quattro, if your in Socal or Fl or something go fwd.

in terms of reliability i have never heard of the quattro system failing, but certain things are more expensive because of it.

I have never heard of any problems whatsoever with the quattro system. For the most part, quattro is 100% mechanical, meaning there are no computer-trickery parts which can fail. I had mine for most of last winter, and Ican honestly say that there is nothing that can match the fun and sure-footedness of quattro in the snow.In fact, I used to hate snow unconditionally - now I can't wait for the firstdecent snowfallof the season so I can go out and drive circles around all those sorry sons-of-mothers with FWD or RWD!

Whoever told you to stay away from AWD in general is full of crap.

I also have never had a problem with my quattro system. Audi's use a mechanical AWD system versus an Electric AWD system which tends to break less.

If you live in a very snowy climate then quattro would probably be perfect for you. here is an example of what it can do
