When I bought the car the dealer had it listed as a sport, but I have the basic fat five 16" rims and it sits high as hell, so is there a definative way to tell if it is a sport? I am getting springs and some of them give drops based on standard or sport, I am leaning towards H&R sports but I dont want it to be too low, but I dont want much wheel gap either. By the way 19x8's will be going on soon too so I dont want rubbing issues either. Any ideas?

B5's should have red shocks if it has the sport suspension. idk if the 17's and 3 spoke steering wheel are part of the package though.

 

The fat five 16's were the sport wheels for the B5 (1996-2001). And yes you'll have the red shocks and the three spoke steering wheel.

 

I have the 3 spoke "S Line" steering wheel and my car is not sport.

Yes, be aware that some non-sports did have the sport wheel.

 

Ok yeah sorry I forgot to say its an 04 1.8t quattro, interior looks the same but the wheels are different and I need to check on the shocks.

 

I've got the 17" rims on my 03' A4 3.0l. As far as I know the car has the sport package. All I know is it sure does corner nice and the ride is pretty firm.

 

This is the Sport package that was offerred on the 03-04 A4's:

* Sports suspension, including 30% stiffer shocks/springs, stronger stabilizer bars in front/rear, suspension lowered by 20mm
* 17" 5-spoke cast alloy wheels (7.5J x 17 ET 45)
* 235/45 high performance Y-rated tires

If you don't have this setup, you don't have a sport package.
