How to UNTINT your tail lights
So if your like me you ended up tinting your tail lights to dark! DOH! I have heard disaster stories of people trying to get the paint/tint off and it coming out worse than before. So i decided to do a write up.. Pics are cell phone so they suck.
DISCLAMER:!!!! :: I am not responsible for your messup's. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
Tools Needed:
-8mm socket
-Phillips Head Screw Driver
-Turpentine
-Lots of Cloths (or papertowels) i used cotton cloths
-Rubbing alcohol
-Lots of bottled water
-Dish washing gloves ( or chemical gloves )
Step 1: Removal of trunk peices/covers. 7 or 8 phillips head screws on the middle peice comes off. set them aside!
Step 2: removal of brake light cover's
Step 3: Removal of brake lights. 4/ 8 MM nuts come off and the light comes out, use a small flat head to get the plugs off.
Step 4: Time to remove the paint! Break out the rubber gloves, i used dish washing gloves
Step 5: Make sure you use the alcohol every few minutes to wipe off the turpentine so it wont eat up the plastic!
Step 6: Depending on how many layers/ type of paint repeat step 4 - 5 multiple times, it will take while but eventually youll see the paint slide off
Step 7: Wash off with soapy water.
INSTALLATION reverse steps 3 - 1
Sit back and enjoy your brand new looking stock lights.

Oh i used gloss black spray paint (yes spray paint) i think i actually put about 3-4 coats on them now i think about it, and i used UV Resistant Clear coat bought at hobby lobby. You could see my brake lights, they were bright from the side, but if someone was behind you cant see them for some reason. I got pulled over for them so i decided to undo them. I am going to take it to a TINT shop to get them to tint with film so they will be BRIGHT when lit, but dark like they looked when not lit.
just use VHT nightshades. I have my lights super dark and the light shines through great. I have had a cop behind both day and night and I was not pulled over. I am not sure where you live but I am in san luis obispo,ca where the cops are super strict.
i live in Columbus, GA and they arent strict at all.. my audi had no exhaust at the time, was in the process of cutting and welding a custom system at home when i ran out of argon gas, soo i had to drive to the store lol but IF you stood behind and hit the brakes you couldnt see.. its dangerous. I might jsut leave em the way they are now. How much was the nightshades?
