So I'm trying to put my components in my doors right now, and I can't figure out how to mount my tweeters. They're too deep to use the stock clip thing, and I can't figure out any other way to mount them.

Where it needs to go-

Any ideas/tips?
Thanks!

all i did was take a dremal and lightly grind any the ring inside the oem tweeter grill and then when i got the aftermarket tweeters to fit in there i postioned them and used hot glue to hold them in

Either bend the clip to fit around those tweeters, or wire it in yourself with a bit of wire running through the two holes.
Or, check out the dynamat job I did on my 5.25's in the stereo thread halfway down the page. :P

You could go another route. I mounted my tweeters on the dash; over the defroster vent holes. Yeah, i know it blocks the defroster airflow, but i think they look better. Not to mention it helps with the soundstage.

In case you're wondering, they're the Polk MOMO tweeters that came with the MMC5250 Components.

You're supposed to try to point tweeters at your head... they are very much directional. The doors would sound better...ORIGINAL: A4 Effort

Yeah, i had 'em in the doors before sticking them on my dash. These MOMO's are hella' bright and they sound much, much, better up there.
I hooked the tweeters up out-of-phase to help with the timing, andi tinkered with the direction on these things, and the way i have them placedsound great.

Interesting. So what do you say to people (and custom installers) who put their tweeters in their dash or A-Pillars? That it sounds horrible? The difference between the door install and dash install isn't that great.
Don't get me wrong, and i'm not trying to argue, but for my application they sound splendid.

Well the A pillars can work well because they can still be 'aimed' at your ears...
I left it alone when you told me how bright your tweets were. Mounting my old focals in the glovebox would have sounded better than in the doors. They were painfully bright. Try running your setup with OEM tweeters in the doors. That's what I ended up doing... using the BOSE tweeters. Sounds sooo nice.
