Default HUD questions

So after getting my 2001 a4, I'm trying to figure out the HUD. Could I get any help on how to do/change different things?

I've figured out that pressing/holding the left **** while driving will set some sort of MPH alarm that beeps when you hit the MPH.
Pressing the left **** while parked does a little check of time until service, fuel level, oil level, battery charge, etc.
Right **** resets odometer.

Anything else I can see or do?

----

Also, my MPG seems to be stuck on 16.5 MPG. It doesn't change while driving or when stopping the car for a few hours and getting back in. Can someone explain how this works or if there's a way to clear it? Thanks.

on the right side of the stearing wheel, there is a stalk and at the end of it there is an up and down switch to toggle through the various stuff. on the bottom of the stalk, there is a button that you press and hold to reset all of your averages like mpg, mph, drive time etc. your mpg probably isin't changing because you are looking at the average mpg. is there an O with a / through it next to the mpg number?

Your HUD works? That's f**cking amazing! I would give my right pinkie finger for a working HUD.

Yes, that is your total average mpg. that doesn't mean that is always what you are getting. to toggle through all the other stuff and reset stuff, see my previous post.

Cool, it's working great. When I hit the reset button, does it clear only the displayed entry, or all of them?

It will clear everything. your avg. mpg, avg.speed, time driving and so on. Nice to figure that out huh?

Just an FYI: the term your are looking for is "trip computer" or "driver information system" not "HUD." A "HUD" or "heads up display" is referred to a display that you do not have to take your eyes off the road to see and is usually projected onto the windscreen at some given location.
