HVAC issue
Hey guys, question about my B6 1.8 quattro.I run the A/C at 68, occasionally the fan speed drop all the way down, turning completely off, then 5-6 seconds later, will go back to the previous setting. Is this a normal operation, or is the A/C freezing itselfso it shuts down, or some other reason? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Thanks,
i think it's normal. my b5 does a similar thing. when it's like 90 out, i turn the a/c to 70 and the fan speed just goes all the way up by itself. then it slows down as the cabin temp drops. very neat feature actually. i luv it
I think that the AC is just regulating the cabin temp automatically. You set it for 70 then it works hard to drop it down to that temp, then if it starts getting warm again like 72 it will kick itself up a bit, then slow back down once it reaches that optimal temp.
Maybe I'm totally off base though...

When I start the car, it kicks up really high, then slows down, that's not my problem. After driving a little while, the fan will completely shut off for 5-6 secs, then kick back up. I live in Tampa, FL, so I doubt it gets to 70 and can stay there. It's like the system just stops for no reason, then restarts.
i'm in sarasota w/an older b5, but my fan never stops and thats set @74. maybe they changed something in the newer cars, but down here, i just don't see the fan shutting off, ever. the 04 boxster always ran too.
