I chipped my 2000 A4, now it's hissing
i just recently chipped my audi 1.8t q, and after 1 week it seems that something is hissing from my engine. my fren says it's a vaccuum valve. i have no idea, can someone help? is this is common problem when someone chips their car and is it a serious problem? thanks!
also, i'm readin up on the forums about b5 and b6's. i'm confused. the salesman who sold me my 2000 a4 1.8tq said it had 150 hp. then when i got it chipped, they said it was one of the few that had 170. does anyone know about this? all i know about the engine is that it's 20 valves. can someone enlighten me about this as well? thanks again
thanks rs. yea, i'm aware of the air blowoff between gears, unfortunately it's a noise during idle. it will hiss until i am in motion in a gear =(

ill let someone else fill u in on the a4, i dont kno much about them. the hissing noise is prolly just ur turbo spooling up, then when it shifts u hear it kinda blowin off, or diverting back into the system....its normal, unless its really really loud, which then u should get checked. but all turboed cars make a hissing noise...
kool, so the hissing is normal? it ain't gonna explode on me or anything right?
there's no power loss, but i feel a huge diff in hp. feels like it boosted it around 20 to 30 hp. i love it

Did you upgrade your Diverter Valve? If not that is the first thing I would look at. You should always upgrade your diverter valve when you chip an A4. It won't really cause damage to your vehicle (or at least not for a long time) but your old DV will wear out fast and then you will begin to lose power and your car will start to sound like donald duck.
