I chipped my 2000 A4, now it's hissing
Who did you get chipped by? Do you have a boost gauge and what boost are you running? If you dont have one you can get one for like $80. Check all your vaccum hoses especially the one from the intake manifold to the diverter valve and the fpr to the top of the intake mani. You can also try to pressure test your car, that will find all the leaks right away. Like transverse said its reccomended to upgrade the DV.
my chip is still the OEM. the place i got it from bought the software from a dealiership and just reprogrammed it. as far as i know, they chipped it to the max. the hissing sounds like it's coming from underneath the right side of the engine (if you are facing the engine from the front ed of the car). i'll probably get the vaccuum hoses checked out...from what u guys are telling me, that's prolly the problem. thanks guys

Did you upgrade your Diverter Valve? If not that is the first thing I would look at. You should always upgrade your diverter valve when you chip an A4. It won't really cause damage to your vehicle (or at least not for a long time) but your old DV will wear out fast and then you will begin to lose power and your car will start to sound like donald duck.

my GIAC guy said the diverter valve is a watse of $$$. tell m more about this.
The diverter valve is not a part you wanna upgrade unless you are chipping your car. It's a stock part you must upgrade to keep up with your other upgrade (your chip). If you don't upgrade it after chipping it will quickly die on you and won't hold the amount of boost the chip demands... so it will divert the boost before reaching your desired limit.
Its all in the spring of the valve. Once the boost gets high enough it compresses the spring, allowing the valve to open and divert air. A chipped car will overpower the stock DV, eventually reducing the springs effectiveness. It will eventually compress more easily and thus the val;ve will open earlier. After chipping, upgrade to a strong DV to keep the valve from opening until your max boost is met.
