Default I F-IN DID IT!

After 7 hours my uncle and I did the apr snub and ecs timing belt kit!!!!!!! It went pretty smooth. Only trouble we had was it overheated for a minute cuz of an air bubble on the test drive (taken care of by reving the engine to get it out) and a couple extra screws. That kinda worries me, but I know that all the bolts and screws are on the pully's, and tensioners are alright. Its amazing how that car comes appart and goes back together. Snub creates minor vibration in drive at idle, but does help a lot in shifting. I am hoping it will settle more over time. All in all its all good. Oh yeah, the updated tensioner was already on there, but I am assuming it came from the factory that way. They changed the tensioner sometime in 2000, I guess I had the right vin. The timing belt didnt look like it had been changed, along with all the other belts. I have a greater peace of mind now anyway. WORD UP. Glad I got that crap over with!

Yeah it is just time consuming, and remembering what bolt/screw went where was tricky to keep track of. Now I wont mind driving more aggressive, I was paranoid as crap before thinking I had the sh!tty tensioner. Shifts, and especially downshifting is SO much better now, in tiptronic too. HELLZ YEAH.

Good job. The more you do, the more tricks you'll learn to help you remember where all the nuts and bolts go.

Nice job! I usually like to DIY stuff, especially when it comes to cars, but I really don't trust myself doing the timing belt just because I'm worried I'm going to screw up and get it out of time. Glad to hear it all went smooth. How much do you have to tear down to change the snub mount? I'm only at 50K miles right now, so I've got 10K to go, but I really want to change my snub. Do I have to tear down the whole front end?

you can do a snubmount in 30minutes tops.. and thats if you havent done it before.. its really easy.. just pull your lower grills out.. undo those bolts.. undo the bots on top of the radiator support.. and in front of the wheels on the backside of the bumber.. pull front bumper off.. carefully lift radiator up and out of the way.. pry off old snub pound on new one..

Ah crap! The f-in snub is creating some annoying vibraitons now! In the seat, steering and crap and now theres also some rattling interior plastic pieces.. I'll give it a couple weeks and if it doesnt get better Ill be pissed and shave it. Ill let yall know how that goes, and its an APR by the way, and yes its on the right way.

Im just hoping it will seat more and hopefully become more flexible but i doubt it cuz that thing was pretty solid. It did slide into the housing with no problem when i had the house off as well... but when i put the snub over the spindal, and into the housing it was a tighter fit. I dont understand how to get it off to shave cuz I wouldnt be able to pull my radiator out that far. Would I need to disconect the hoses that run accross the bottom of the rad. from the intercooler to pull it out far enough?
