is it a manual or tiptronic? you say A4QT (1.8? 2.8? quattro tiptronic) and then you say 5-speed(manual?) Do you have a link?

At least thats how ive always taken it.

 

Well I've never heard of an A4TQ - so I searched - and your right some members do refer to it as that - but only 11 in the past two years. I was also questioning if he knew what the hell he was talking about. For someone who's been looking for an A4 for that long should know to post more info than that. Learn somthing every day

 

When I joined this forum I had a 1998 A6. Below is a link. The correct reading is:

1997 Audi A4 TQM, 160,000 mi on the clock

 

See if timing belt has been done twice yet - tensioner is only good for 70-80k so its due for its second time. otherwise if your ok with the mileage and you willing to put $$ into the car when needed then go for it. the way I look at it my little payment + all the stuff I've had to do with my car is still less than a new car payment so I'm ahead. Would also suggest a carfax and having it looked at by a mechanic.

 

Needs new timing belt. Similarly, the turbo is likely on its way out soon too.
