So on my way home today I am pretty sure I got a missfire. I was just driving normal and I let of the gas and my car jumped and made a clunk noise and I looked at my gauges and my CEL blinked once. It went off and nothing else has happened since. It still runs strong and everything. I am going to go get the codes on it tomorrow. I hope nothing bad is going to happen. HMMM.....

Get a scan done. Autozone does them for free.

Mine did something similar before the coil packs went by bye.

i had a random misfirecode show up, 3 days later the coils in cyl 1,3, AND 4 went. i had had the coil in 2 replacedd 2 months previous to that. it made my skin *crawl* when i felt the shudder and i knew what happened. i hope you get it all set soon

So if that happens is your car non-drivable? I will have to see. Would that also cause the car not to start very easly sometimes? Every so often (It's happening more often now then before) but the car won't start easly. You have to turn it over for a while before it will finally go.

I wouldnt drive it if the CEL is blinking continuously-indicating rapid misfires. If it blinks every now and then-indicating a random misfire, it should be alright. But get the fault codes asap and troubleshoot/fix it. Anyone that owns a B5 1.8t w/original coil packs should be ready for a misfire any day. (Meaning, have a couple new coil packs sitting in your trunk)

I just checked ECS tuning and all the coil packs on there are for either the ATW or AWM engine code. i have the AEB engine code. Will they all work together?

????? Its the first coil pack type listed under "Ignition Coil Pack" on their site for $59.95 (ouch)
