look up how to detect a boost leak or do a search not sure where it is, and check for a boost leak.. start there.. who know what the place you bought it from missed..

i am guessing knock sensor.
Does engine check sign on?
if it does, there is possibility of knock sensor.

I am having the same problem. Audi said breather hoses cause of CEL. i reaplaced. Still same problem. Then they said coil packs, so i replaced them. Still same problem. so now they said ECU. so i bought one, and thats not the problem. Is the car having a hard time starting as well? Mine is. Im thinking bad fuel pressure regulator? Does that sound right maybe. Its gonna get expensive to fix all this stuff. just make sure you are doing the little things yourself cause audi charges arms and legs for labor!

how is the idle?
if the dv is bad, it will not hold boost, and send it back into the airbox....
like how you described, pull fine, then drop off.
coil packs set off the yellow light , so will the ing module....

I'm pushing toward a bad diverter valve. That would give you loss of boost and noise.
Find someone with a real VAGCOM, use the vagcom locator in useful links section. This will check for codes and you can also log boost pressures.
