Default I love it!!! New A4 owner

First of all these forums are nice. I've looked at a few others and they are not as busy as these seem to be. Plus I like the fact that they don't seperate the B5, B6, and upcoming B7 (learned about the names here) especially since it seems that many B5 owners moved up to the B6 and then maybe the B7s eventually. So it would be safe to assume that they know something about a previous model.

I got a 2001 1.8t, 2wd unfortunately :P. But I still love this freaking car! Especially considering what I came from ( 1994 cavalier ughhhh....)
Few questions, it has 64k right now and am wondering what I should have replaced or what kind of maintance i should get.. I like to not have to worry about what needs replacing or might not be up to par. So anything that could be trouble, even if its maintnence is not scheduled till later, I would like to replace now. Also any general tips to a new owner?

Congrats... I recently bought the same car as you, same color. Audis are fun to drive.

Mine had 48K miles. How much did you pay for yours?

Congrats!!

I have a '99 and just got mine looked at.

The things he informed me about where:

The timing belt, oil filter, water pump, and brakes.

My car had already had the updated timing bellt and tensioner and he replaced the oil filter with a new one that holds more oil.

Congrats on your new ride! Lookin tight!
I know the feeling..I came from a 93' Corolla Wagoneer.

Stuff you should have checked:
1) Timing belt/Tensioners and water pump. These need to be replaced ~60-90k miles. Lots of people say 60k but the dealer is gonna tell you 90k. If it hasn't been done yet, that's something you should keep in mind.
2) Control arms. Bounce the car on every corner and if you hear squeeking you might wanna think about having them looked at. I "think" there was some kind of callback on some specific control arms..can't remember where I heard that.
3) brake pads, oil change ever 3500-4k, the usual.

Wow after doing a search on radios/stereo and speakers and subs im kinda saddened. I wanted to just add some subs to my stock system, not bose, but it sounds like the best thing to do is just go all or nothing on a sound system. Dont do it at all or do it right and replace all the speakers, headunit, get some amps, some new wiring and a sub or two.

All I wanted to do was get one sub, box and an amp at this early stage. Then down the road replace the head unit and speakers w/amp to run them cleanly. I dont have the cash to do all of it right now and want to know if it is viable or reasonable to just go for a good sub now for added umph. Waiting months for a whole system replacement would blow.
