i need expert advice from the experienced experts .
ok here we go...i am a victim of the sludge on my 02 a41.8t. The dealer says the sludge is only in the cam train because they took the oil pan out and it was clean. They recommend a new engine. so i was looking around and it looks like $3,000 is what everyone is charging. Then one of the places, specialized german in sacramento, ca told me that they can rebuild the whole motor for $3,500. I have no idea what to do. Do i take a chance and get a used motor and possibly have the same problem happen again in 1-2 years. Or do i get the engine rebuilt. I heard some rumors that once an engine has sludge it builds up in the ports that supply oil to the engine and that its next to impossible to completely machine those ports clean. Ive been dealing with this problm for about 2 weeks and i cant take it anymore i have to choose one or the other and get my audi on the road again. SOMEBODY PLEASE GET BACK TO ME. Also, im in Fresno, CA so if anyone knows any good shops to rebuild motors in this area please let me know. Is specialized German a good place to have my car done at or where else should i go. OHH i forget to mention my cam bearing went out and thats why the engine wont run anymore.
