Default I NEED some advice on this please!

Heres my situation. After a little research on on older forums I have concluded that my front driver side bearings are going out. It just started making noise about a week ago. The noise gets louder when I turn the wheel away from the suspect tire, it keeps making noise when I go in a straight line too, just not as loud. The noise itself is not real loud as of yet but I can tell it is getting steadily more noticeable. My question to whoever can give me some input is....My anniversary is exactly 9 days and we have saved just to get this nice suitte, but me and my wife wont be able to go if I have to spend the money on getting this fixed. Will I be safe to drive about 100 miles on a highway(there and back) and not ruin my car or worse, or should I just get the work done. Any advice will be appreciated. Also any ideas on how much it costs to get this fixed?

At a euro mechanic it will be below $200. I drove 400 miles on mine not knowing what the problem was. However, if the bearing locks up on you, you'll be out a bearing and tire. Not to mention you may lose control and hit something.

I recommend you either get it fixed, or take another vehicle.

Bearing should hold for a few hundred miles bf failing completely, but pay attention that u're gambling and u might lose. I would do the bearing imediately specially because u're going on a long trip and things could get nasty; i would def consider it a priority.

P.S. Make sure that it's really the bearing falling and not sound from the control arms (a frequent problem too), which it should be prevalent when turning as well or when on bumpy roads.

Haha, ya. just, if you are driving on the trip, and you notice the noise getting louder, get off the freeway and give it a few minutes to cool down.

Or get off the freeway and find a nice motel six that has pink champaign. That should do the trick and you can be sneaky. Just act like that was the plan the whole time.

Use a cool line like, "honey lets go get it on in those bushes," or something equally suave.
