I think I might have totalled my car.. Im Pissed!!
So my friend was driving me home last night at 3:30am. I couldnt drive because of obvious reasons, lol. So this kid is like my brother, hes my best friend so I wasnt trippin about him driving. So he is kinda having some fun in the corners and just kinda playing around in the backstreets of our town. He is getting way too confident in the car and he is seriously starting to think the car can handle anything. Well...im almost passed out in the front seat with a horrible stomach ache and he takes a fricken 90 degree turn at about 70 mph, of course we cant make the turn and we end up SMASHING into the curb. My rim snapped in half, our speed when we hit the curb was probably about 45. My tire came disconnected from something...i say this cuz it wont respond to the steering wheel anymore, what could this mean? We tried to push the car and it wouldnt even push...it was stuck for some reason, like it wouldnt even budge. My friend said he would pay for it all but I just am worried that he might have done some damage that cant be fixed. So hitting a curb at 50mph, whats the worst damage that could happen...heres what im thinking im gonna need to fix..
new rim
new tire
new tie rod/control arm/steering knuckle, something of this sort. maybe all 3
The impact was so hard it made my intake pipe detach from my throttle body... [:@]

holy... probably a LOT more you need than just that.
You may have tweaked the frame too - so you should have it put on a frame aligner to check.
You could have fubarred the shock on that side, wheel bearing, hub, brake line, any of the 4 control arms on that wheel...
That sucks, man - If my friend was driving my car like that I would put my foot up his ***.

Sorry to hear that... Im sure your tranny is Fed though... drive shaft(s) could have been smashed into where it connects into the tranny at that speed... if you know what i mean. At that speed lots of things in the drivetrain could be dead now. Your friend is a jackass for driving someone elses car that way. Lets see some pictures. Yet another story of someone overestimating the limits of quattro.... SAD.
i'm with brrman, best friend or not, anyone driving my car like that would get a foot in the ***.
Like everyone else said, it's not gonna be a cheap one to fix there could be a butt load of damage and you wont know until it gets up on a lift and someoen takes a look at it.
Consider this, when the jackasses didnt put my wheel on correctly and it came off going ~5mph, it's costing them just over 4g's to get fixed. And thats not even with a damaged rim or going 45+mph

If it is totalled.. it would be a good time to not only dissown your friend (at least for a while) and take the settlement check and invest in a 1.8t. I wouldnt count on getting a dime out of your friend. Unless its some kind of payment plan that he will eventually copp out on anyway.
Isn't there a saying or something.....
Friends dont let friends drive like an @sshole.
I just hope your friend comes from a wealthy family, or you have great full coverage insurance!

wow man.. goddamn.. the worst part of that story is when you said that your wheels arent responding to steering.. sounds like he probably smashed not only your entire suspension compenents.. but possibly the axle and possibly the driveshaft.. if those 2 things are fuked.. your insurance will more than likely total out your car..
bad thing is.. if your insurance isn't setup to cover drivers not on your insurance plan.. you won't see a dime.. your best bet is to tell the insurance company you were driving when this happened... unless you have a police report showing that your friend was driving.. if thats the case.. your fuked..
we need more details.. did the cops come? did you get it towed? is it still sitting there?
not to be the bearer of bad news.. but its probably gonna be a new ride for you..
hey atleast you got the Rex and Dsm to drive around [8D]
