Glad to hear you're not buying it at BB... that place is overpriced on almost everything, its simply amazing. In my previous vehicles I had the JVC head unit that had a hidden display, survived 3 break-ins and one car theft. yes, the previous vehicle was a honda.

every deck is going to be considered not a perfect fit because stock audi decks are a different size than the standard aftermarket. fitting it will be easy and it will look clean, just ask the shop u buy it from and they will sell u a harnis (which is not really needed but i reccomend if u plan on doing a professional job) and an adapter so the new deck will fit niccely in the stock dash compartment. personally if i were to buy an aftermarket deck i would buy one that uses red as its main accent color so it matches all your guage and dash lights. besides that, jvc makes a good deck and im sure youll be satisfied.

Sound system is what im going to do first and then performance. Chip will come later when i get my dad broken into the idea of changing around the eninges performance. Which he isnt to keen on, after just dropping so much $$ on the car. ( hes afraid im going to break it) which i dont blame him. Hopefully in a few months we will see.
Yeh im having it professionally installed from the Sound Waves store. Going Wednessday to pick it up. Wasnt in stock when the sale was going on but the guy was cool and gave me the sale price, even though the sale only covered instock goods.
Sandman, dont think ill have to worry i can change the colors 512 different colors/shades of colors. So im sure ill find one that i think fits nicely.

APG, yeh im kind of worried about the Ipod interface, i hope it is easy to use and scroll through my Playlists and such. Also im most likely mounting it in the Glove box. Are there any write ups on how to connect your ipod to your head unit yourself? I really dont want to drop 100 bucks on the cord...

Ill get some pics up when its installed. Total price $501.50, including brackets, Harness and installation...

Good choice for HU, I got to see it first hand at CES.. for everything it does $380 is a good deal.. Yes BB is over priced, especially since they are getting the product in volume discounts.. And for those buying new stuff off ebay, just remember some of them might not be authorized dealers, so if it breaks, you will end up paying more in the long run, plus support your local retailer, there's so many deals that can be worked out with them, you just don't know...

If you need help finding a store in Jersey that's worth a damn, let me know or you can try these guys: Sounds Impossible in Highlands, NJ.

Very good HU! I'm about to get the same one. Except I'm getting a supplier discount. $250 straight from Alpine!!! You can get dash kits for $20, but I don't think the make wiring harnesses. As far as i know you have to hardwire. let us know if you run into any problems.

I have that head unit and love it. I have the Ipod adapter, the Sirius Sat radio unit, and the amplink control cable that works great with the new alpine amps. You can control everything on your amps right from the head unit. I have the MRV-F545 4 channel amp powering all Infinity Reference speakers, then 2 600W mono amps powering 2x12" Alpine R-Type subs. Need lots of 2 sided sticky foam to quelch all the rattles but after a little work, I can be heard from a mile away with no rattles on the car, not even the infamous license plate rattle.

Only problem is now I'm fighting a battery problem so be careful what you end up doing.
