Idle Question
Ok guys. I am in Sales and some days my car will be parked andI will be in it working for up to 8 hours some days. I do live in Texas so the car has to be running orI would die of the heat ifI did not! I love the A/C in the Audi much better then the Lexus! This is my first turbo and was wondering how this will affect the turbo and motor?
Thanks guys for all the help!

Well it does say idle Question! Soit would only be smart to think the car is running. Will having my car idle for 8 hours affect the motor or turbo? If so what can I do to cause less stress on turbo and motor?
yes waste of gas and lots of wear. you should really read the owners manual. even in winter like up north the manual says dont let the car idle, get in start it at most waste 15 seconds for the oil to get into the system and then then drive off, keep off the gas until engine warms up. same should apply for the heat.
cant you find a nice internet cafe or something to work from, or work from home?
It wont hurt too bad to leave it idling for a little while, but for hours at a time I dont know. In general, extended idling is not supposed to be good.
Myth #2: Idling is good for your engine. Reality: Excessive idling can actually damage your engine components, including cylinders, spark plugs, and exhaust systems. Fuel is only partially combusted when idling because an engine does not operate at its peak temperature. This leads to the build up of fuel residues on cylinder walls that can damage engine components and increase fuel consumption.

Most of the time I dont let it idle that long! There have been days when I almost have too! I work out of my car for the most part and if I am in the car doing computer workI have to let it idle, Texas heat is no joke! I need to be able to power the laptop and A/C soI am not dripping with sweat whenI go into anappointment!
As far as the owners manual goes the car did not come with one whenI picked it up last week! I have one ordered but just waiting on shipping!
