Default Idle Surge/ RPM surge

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to the site here but I'll get right to the point.

I searched on here a couple months ago about my idle problem and found some info that I can't seem to find again.

Here is my problem. When I'm stopped, say at a red light, the car is in drive and the rpms bounce from about 800 to 1,000. The car wants to start to move when the RPMs spike. I'm no mechanic but I definitely know it isn't a good thing! Ha!

I have heard something about coils, maybe the timing belt. I do have a video of it from my phone but for some reason I can't put it up here. I can possibly email it to someone willing to help me out.

Any advice as well as approx. repair costs would be greatly appreciated!

Sell your car and buy one with a manual. When was the last time you did basic things like changing your air filter?

When I bought my car I was driving 30K a year and there was no way I was driving stick that mucha year. Had a manual and will only do it again as a 2nd car.

Anyways,I changed my air filter about 6K ago or go. Its not something that simple

Yeah, it could be that simple. Low airflow at idle, the computer compensates for it by opening the throttle slightly. Check your vac lines and scan it for codes. Even if the CEL isn't on, there could be something.
