Idling problem with 1999 A42.8Q.

A4 2.8Q 30v Man.

Need some friendly advice.

the car is ok when driving from cold but once fully warmed up and idling at traffic lights the engine revs start to fluctuate and as a result cause car to idle rough. the plugs are new and have been using superplus unleaded, i thought it may be the fuel filter but that made no difference. Any suggestions ?

clean the throttle body out, they tend to get filled with sludge from the egr.

would the garage have to carry this out?

Could be your plugs. Whens the last time you changed em?

If you clean your TB, use throttle body cleaner and not carb cleaner. Might want to get a new gasket for it also.

Nah i've cleaned mine out myself, and as Brrman said, you will need a new gasket. You can probably find some instructions on Audiworld.com.
