Im Confused and I've only had it two weeks!
Ok guys I truly need your help. I bought a 01 Audi with 50,000 miles on it from a dealership (not a Audi one) about two weeks ago. Since I have had it the check engine light has gone on three times! I have taken it to get fixed twice. When I spoke with the Sales man he said the only thing reason it would come on is because emissions the car is letting out. Is that statement true?
Now I have never had a decent car all my others were crap so I don't know if what he says is true. I am taking it in a Sat but want to kind of know what I am talking about incase I bought a lemon : (
Also the headlight/brake light indicator came on and every time I brake it beeps. Are those related?
Any help you guys can give is helpful.
Thanks,
-r

Go to autozone and get your car scanned for codes. He is completely wrong in saying that the only reason it would be on would be due to emissions. The CEL keeps coming back on because you havent fixed the problem, all you have done is get the light cleared. It comes back on for a reason. As far as the headlight/brake light indicator, do you have a brake light/headlight out?
your indicators are probably coming on because you have a bulb out. the CEL will come on for a million different reasons..they are much more integrated on audis than on the average car. if you ever plan on doing any of your own repairs/maintenance, you should seriously consider buying a vag-com cable from www.ross-tech.com ..they read more codes than universal obd2 scanners, clear error codes, check for codes that don't throw a CEL, reprogram certain functions like door locks, windows, alarm, seatbelt chime, etc...universal obd2 scanners will work for reading the basic engine fault codes but thats it.
