Hey guys... I was sittin in the parking lot and I redlined my car.. And now everytime my rpms gp over 3k it makes this weird rubbing noise.. What could it be? Blown turbo? Please no!!!!

98 1.8t a4

Check fault codes, and listen to the engine and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from.

y does everybody think automaticly when something sounds off it's the turbo? lol i agree just check the codes, and see what you got more than likely it's not the turbo

alright i dont think its the turbo.... this sound come from the middle of the engine itself... almost sounds like rubber rubbing together

could it be the timing belt?

Might be, try removing covers and check for things that might be rubbing on the either the serpentine belt or the T belt.

but why would it only make the noise when the rpms are at 3k (as the rpms get higher the higher the noise gets).... all the belts in the front seemend ok... the sound comes from the dipstick are...

When is the last time you checked your oil pressure? If your developing sludge it won't be long before your oil pressure light comes on and your cam hydraulic adjuster starts making noise.

and i forgot to mention that my dip stick is broken

You have to take the oil pressure sender out (on the back of the oil filter housing) and hook up a pressure gauge there. Take it to a euro repair shop if you don't have the tools.
As for the dip stick tube, make sure you replace that, audi engines are very sensitive and a missing dip stick will make it run differently, massively on a 2.0T.
