Immobilizing the cigarette lighter
My wife got an iPod for Christmas. Of course, that means that I get stuck figuring out how to get it working in her '03 A4.
I found a very cool dock/charger/FM transmitter here: http://www.dlo.com/products/tp_Prod....mmand=showpage and went out and bought it. It works great, except for one thing. Because it's top-heavy with the iPod installed, it makes the swiveling lighter housing flop back and forth. I messed around for a few minutes to see if there was an easy way to jam it open, but was not successful. Can anyone suggest a way to immobilize the lighter housing -- preferably easily reversible?
Thanks!

If she isn’t going to be taking it out of the lighter a lot, use some clear silicon to glue it in place. It shouldn’t leave any residue when you go to remove it, but you will need to glue it back in if you take it out.
Rusnak_322, the problem isn't that the dock comes out of the lighter, the problem is that the whole lighter housing swivels -- it flips completely over and latches to hide the lighter in the console when not in use. I need to keep the housing from rotating. The dock sticks in the lighter socket just fine, but the housing that the socket lives in moves.
1.8texas, I've tried sticking various things into the mechanism, but the Audi engineers have done a really good job at designing a mechanism that can't be jammed. There are no lips that would catch something stuck in, and the axis of rotation is across the center of the socket, taking away any possibility of jamming it from the back.
I'll get some photos tonight, flyboy.

Rusnak_322, I just re-read your reply -- did you mean that I should use the silicone to glue the housing to the console? That might work, as long as I can keep it reasonably attractive (she's super picky, surprise surprise). Is there a particular brand of glue you would recommend? Regular silicone sealant?
