INMotion B5 A4 chip, reputable???
I am going to ship My ECU Mon 5th. The InMotion rep says I will have it back Thur 8th. I would ship sooner but I need my car the rest of this week and the weekend. I'll keep everyone up to date on the situation.
guy wouldnt take ups either, usps does have overnight but im not in the states right now, and i wont be for another 4-5 months, the only way that i can ship it overnight is either fedex or ups and he qont take either, def wierd, why a bussines wont take shipments?
Hey... I think I'm the guy Bluesnapper said he spoke to that was getting their TT flashed by InMotion. James from InMotion met me at my house today to flash the ECU. It took around 30 - 45 minutes, but everything went well. James was extremely professional, and was wearing a VW tech jacket... he use to own his own VW/Audi shop and, before that, worked for A&P Specialties in Portland (Audi & Porsche shop) as their Porsche tech for a long time. Come to find out, this is the same shop that the dealer I bought the car from had replace some items on the TT to pass DEQ before I bought it!
Anyway, very nice guy, and he has all the hardware for flashing in a case he takes with him. I can tell you this... from doing some research a week or so ago on ECU flashing equipment, and companies franchising out ECU data files, that's possibly what this guy is doing. The HP and TQ numbers are pretty much on par with most all tuning companies out there... so I'm thinking some larger firm is tuning the cars, saving the data per ECU coding, and selling the flash files to other firms. To franchise out, you can purchase the equipment and either subscribe to download the files for the cars, or just purchase these files individually. You then turn around and sell the tuning for the ECU and make your profit. Oh, and the hardware ain't cheap from the prices I saw on the net for ByteShooter box it can be expensive! Check this out (and the other programming tools):

I know InMotion, in general, is based in Austria. Whether they make their own programs or not I have no idea... they are somewhat popular there, almost exclusively with the TDI crowd as that is more popular in Europe. I can tell you that, after pulling the info from my ECU, he was able to match it with 12 other tuning files he had on his laptop, so I guess he's been doing this for a bit.
So, from what I gather, he gives the same tuning as others like UpSolute, just cheaper. Plus, it works out for me as I'm in Portland and he is in Clackamas, OR... only like 5 miles from my house, so if there are any issues he's close by and can't get away from me! So far so good, though. I just had it done and took it for a quick spin while he hung out in my driveway... and there is a BIG difference right off the bat! It will take around 100 miles for the ECU to learn and synch the new readings in, but already I can feel more low endtorque and the turbo spools much quicker. For $175 (I got the $175 Ebay "flash" deal for my TT 225) I don't think I could do better.

but here is the question no one has asked, it might be all fine and dandy the first few days/weeks/months, but what happens if you have problems or blow up down the road?
the guarentee is good for 10 days right?>
the guarentee is good for 10 days right?>
yup only 10 days. these guys dont provide much after sales support, which you would get from a reputable company like GIAC. aftersales support is pretty important when it comes to chips too. also i wana see a hp/tq curve for this chip. the advertised power gains may be accurate at ONE point in powerband but not all throughout it. hell a test pipe gives over 50hp/tq at one point in the powerband but their not advertised like that because overall the gains you see are closer to 20 more hp/tq
Maybe someone else can try it and dyno... I don't plan on it any time soon. I'm just giving you my experience with the company, but I don't plan to dyno.
If you're worried about the chip/program/flash being written over or "going bad" I would buy direct rather than over Ebay. Looks like buying direct (even the flash tuning) gives you a lifetime warranty on the tuning:

If you have other questions you may want to ask on their forum.

some guy in a MKIV golf posted his results
i just wish their was an actual dyno sheet to see the hp/tq curves
As soon as i get the pages sent out i will copy the results to the forum. After my INMotion tuning, downpipe, cold air intake, front mount intercooler, full exhaust , and diverter valve my 2004 GTI put down some weird numbers today. After about 4 pulls on the dyno the results stayed about the same. (STOCK TURBO)
Im wondering if it is overboosting because the boost map jumps up and down, and in 5th gear when you hold it to the floor the boost guage jumps from about 23 to 15 and then back up and then back down etc.... only in 5th.. as long as all lines are tight
197 HP
271 Ft lbs torque (wow!!!)
around 26psi
Air fuel was a little shaky at 23psi... it was a little over 13

There was a GTI (I believe) that posted a dyno... but unfortunately it was straight from their MSN mail account or something, and when you open the thread it asks you to log in to .NET service. Even if you do it is there. The forum admin asked them to upload the pics but they never responded.
