Default Installed my new boost gauge

Finally got it all installed. Won't have any pics for a while, wife took the digi down to visit her sister. Just to show how much of a dumbass I am, I got everything wired in the tubing ran and everything hooked up. Then I took it out (tell you about it in a minute) when I got back I was going to reinstall the vents, well I had forgoten that they go through the vent housing. So I need to cut the wire again and add some connectors so I can put everything back in[:@]. not too bad of a screw-up but I can laugh at myself and now so can you

the test run - my hg starts at about 19-20 then goes down to 16-17. would this be a vacuum leak or is it normal? when I wot on it I spike at about 10 in first then it drops fast down to 5, 2nd gear it spikes back up to 10 then drops down to 5 again. I think I have a boost leak somewhere - I'll see if I can find it later.

I purchased a 7-color tinted glowshift boost gauge and I did the center vent DIY(using the left most center vent). The red color of the gauge matches perfectly with the red of the dash - very happy so far with the gauge.

Just drove the brothers 1.8t with the glowshift boost guage and it seems to be still running fine after 6 months. And your boost problem is normal. The turbo doesnt hold boost very well unless you have a chip and/or a mbc.

YAY. another lefty center vent. I think it looks better. And yea we've all done the wiring before putting it through a hole at one time of another. Now that you know what psi you are running, not having a chip is gonna bug you.

I actually am "chipped" I just have no Idea by who. see https://www.audiforums.com/m_481031/tm.htm Once im sure that I've dealt with all the leaks (if they exists) I'll think about upgrading my chip.

I'm going to try to find my vacuum leaks - I went to autozone and picked up some "carb & choke cleaner" is this what everyone is refering to when they say "use carb cleaner" to diagnose vac leaks?

This must not have been the right thing because I just tried it and i sprayed every vac lin and didn't get any increase in the rpm's. I even tried taking off the vac line of my boost gauge and sprayed it into the lid of the cleaner with the vac line in the lid and the engine did nothing. maybe I need somthing a bit more powerful than the brand that I purchased(gumout).
