installing the dv
i tried to put the 710n dv on myself yesterday and it was near impossible. there were these two claps on the dv that i had never seen b4 in my life. they look to me to be some sort of metal zip tie. has anyone ever experienced the same thing when replacing dv. some advice might help. thanks in advance.
You might be talking about the one time use clamps audi uses for vac lines etc. If you are talking about the clamp on the skinny line that come out the top of the dv, thats what it is. You have to use pliars and just rip it off. The other 2 clamps that hold the dv in the intercooler piping should be the screw kind and can be used again.
Yes , when I changed my DV I had to rip those one time metal clamps off. They cant be re used. You can get hose clamps and just use those after you put the DV on. Use pliars or wire cutters like what Dj and onepoint said... very easy , takes about 40 mins for the whole process. GL and post back if you have any more problems.
i just did that today, very easy. I did it while i was changing the oil. I guess my old one was bad, but what a difference!!!! I also changed the air filer to a K&N drop in(just got the car, catching up on maintenance). I'm very pleased with the car now compared to how it was.
so anyway, i used a small screwdriver and stuck it inside the top piece of those clips and turned it and popped it apart and the other hose clamp unscrews. I got the 710N and it has a tab on one of the sides just like the stock with the bigger end, take notice which way it is installed when taking the old one out so you put the new one the right way.
i ended up "zip tie'ing" the small hose and used the screw type hose clamps for the bigger hoses. I bought the dv from ecstuning.com and had no idea where it was. I looked on audiworld.com and found the tech thread on it and i knew instantly where it was, so while i was under the car changing the oil, I changed it. It went really smooth and it took 10 min, no joke. I'm sure if you can jack up a car you can install a new dv. Good luck and just go on audiworld.com and see where it is and buy some hose clamps and zip ties and its easy as pie. Once you know where it is it's self explanatory.
