Stop grave digging, i hate that s***!!![:@]
I always un-bolt the whole thing, then use a jack to lift the engine back into place and line the bolts up on the snub mount, i don't see why you would have to remove all that crap just to get the rubber end on.

mine was easy as hell. i went with the greed speed one though. the front bumper has to be removed and part of the radiatorr as well. but just pop it in the microwave and grease it up.

holy faaack whats the big deal with gravedigging? I searched, found a thread closest to what i was looking for rather than started a new one...

and why don't you do a quick little writeup how to install one cuz i'm rather curious how you figure the easiest way is.

Thanks again

Because you can start your own thread and then put a link to the old thread for reference, people tend to ask people questions that were posted from 2-3 years ago without looking at the post date.
As for the snub mount think about it, you have 3 motor mounts and the snub mount is just chillin there to keep the drivetrain shock down to a minimum so there really isn't any load on it. There should be three large allan bolts holding it to the oil pan, zip those bad boys out with an small impact gun(if you have one)
and the little sucker will fall out. Slide the new one in, line up the bolts and get her done! If the bolts don't line up they way there were force the motor with a pry bar until you can get it where you want it but you shouldn't need to.
The other way you can do it is to take off the bumper, and put the lock carrier into service position and just slide off the end and install a new one.

Are you sure you have to take some bolts off near the mount on an 01? When I did mine I was doing my timing belt so I had the lock carrier in the service position. I just unbolted the hard intake pipe from the frame and took the old mount off and put the new one on with it off the car. The spindle that holds the mount is on that hard intake pipe (black pipe that runs across the bottom from your turbo to the intercooler.) I think the other years had the mount on the engine side.

You might be right, i don't do a lot of work on the older A4's as much, it should be a piece of cake with it in service position none the less, which should only still be about a 1 hour job.

Not for you Saudi, 2.8L and 2.7T engines have to be put in service position because the bolts go forwards into the motor so you don't have enough room, 1.8T engines are bolted on the side of the pan which is easy.
