Default Intake ideas

I haerd that the intakes off of ebay have cheap filters and couplings and the guy at pepboys said to just rmove the airbox and put a K&N filter on the end of the hose. Any opinions on that? Any other intakes other than the EVOMS one?

Well, for what it's worth, IMO the K&N filters may not be that much of an improvement. The filters, by design, let larger articles through them. Consequently, the larger particles allowed through tend to be hard on the sensing element. Think of it as kind of "sandblasting" the sensing element. In short, it allows more air to flow, but you run the risk of having to buy a new MAF, which isn't cheap. There is a pretty in depth mod that can be done using the MAF housing from an A6. Not really a DIY unless you bore and polish yourself.

Design an intake that pulls in air away from the engine bay, most systems have the
filter in the egine bay which I think is useless for the engine.
Its pulling in warm to hot air from the engine which makes the air charge
less dense which in turn affects the A/F ratio
Colder air is better hence COLD INTAKE
But what do I know?

make sure you get a bypass valve if you do that but mine is in the engine bay directed towards that plastic pipe that draws in the out side air, it works very well for me

in my old car i had one that went throught the fender and then down in the hole of the side of the front bumper and it worked great but how do u do that in this car? The skid plate blocks any of those options. Would even be possible if i lost the skid pad?

The skid pan is there for a reason i wouldnt be removing anything like that
you can get custom bent piping for the duct work,
you have to watch where you place it and make sure its only air that goes in,
as its so low down it makes it easy for water to get in which can coz a
Hydrolic lock on the engine and thats not a pretty site to see
