Introduction & Spoiler advice
Hey!
I'm a recent convert to the Audi crowd, having long been a BMW enthusiast. In preparation to move back to the US from Italy, I recently bought a 2004 Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0 that's actually being delivered to my home-to-be this evening (!) I'm really excited about the car, and after spending some time browsing through these forums, really feel like I made the right decision in opting for Audi over BMW. I get back on the 1st of June, and am having one of my friends who was kind enough to handle some of the particulars pick me up at the airport with it.
So, I'm not terribly ambitious when it comes to modifying the car out of the gate. By necessity, I do a lot of driving, so I'm hoping to retrofit it with a factory navigation system, and probably tint the windows a bit (black body with a black roof - hopefully the tint will give it a bit sleeker look). As far as performance and engine mods go, my (albeit very limited) research has left me somewhat disappointed with what my options are with the 3.0 engine. Honestly, though, I haven't looked into too much as I've really been swamped trying to finish up at work and pack up my life for trans-Atlantic shipping in just under two weeks.
I know this is kind of superficial, but I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on spoilers for the cabriolet body style. (I searched to no avail.) As far as styling goes, I think a lot of them really look great on the B6 sedans for only a few bucks and a little bit of time, but I haven't seen much available for cabs. I'm not looking for anything big or pronounced, just something subtle, a bit understated that adds a bit of class while making the car a bit distinctive. Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate any advice or pointers anyone can give me...
That being said, I'm really looking to forward to being active on these boards and maybe meeting some of the crowd eventually. I'm not particularly adept with the technical end, but I'm learning and maybe will be able to actually contribute something of substance in the (distant) future! Thanks again, and have a great night all!

iirc, as of now you cannot fit a factory nav system to a non-nav car...you can get aftermarket setups though...a lip spoiler is a popular mod for the B6s, it helps clean up that big, bubbly butt they have
Hey, many thanks for the welcome!
I know it's minor, but one of the reasons I settled on the Audi was that the on-line community seemed so much more hospitable than did those for BMWs. (No offense to BMW fans, this place just seemed a lot more welcoming
Anyway, as for the navigation system, is it really not a viable option, or is that the Audi line? I've looked into it just a bit in my free time, and www.navplus.us seems to be able to offer up a few successful examples of retrofits into B6 models. Now, granted, you need to keep in mind that a lot of what I'm reading flies straight over my head on technical issues...it's entirely possible, and wouldn't be terribly surprisingly if, I've been misinterpreting this. I've tried communicating with a company that supposedly sells RNS-E DVD factory nav systems for the B6s that guarantees compatibility, but in two weeks, they have yet to respond to a single e-mail, making me more than a bit skeptical.
Sorry if this is somewhat of a simpleton's question, but I always get nervous when it comes to writing sizable checks (y'all should've seen me when it came to making the wire transfer for the car, it was humiliating at best).
Thanks again, and hope all of your Friday nights are more promising than mine has been thus far!

hahaha, wow, i wasn't even aware that there was a forum specifically for audi's nav system...that's kinda strange if you ask me....but i'm sure the guys on that forum know alot more than me about nav-plus..if they say you can, i think it's safe to say theyre right. but cost is another issue, maybe it costs a few grand to make it happen...
and Welcome! i love the cabs, ive always wanted one of the new S4 ones. or even a A4 would be the best, so congrats.
EDIT: when you get it here and have the time make sure to get some pictures of it.
