Default ipod integration with nav possible?

Hey I am a complete newbie with audi and just wondering if there is a possibility to have an ipod integration (one that charges the ipod) with the factory audi navigation?

Is there any other way to integrate the ipod with the nav?

Thanks a bunch

apple started doing ipod integration with audi and other companies like vw and acura starting on their 06 models. So if ur 07 didnt already come with it then it can definitely be done.

I just had my ipod integration installed at the dealership today on my 'o7 A4 with Nav plus, 7 days old. Unfortunately, nobody at the dealership could tell me much about how the ipod would interface with the Nav/Stereo. Good thing for them, because I might not have bought it. This is an Audi branded accessory, but I was hoping for something more like the icelink. Anyway, it takes the place of the CD changer and only recognizes the first 5 playlists. None of the playlist or track info is displayed. You only get numbers. The sixth CD changer spot is a playlist of your entire ipod library--pretty useless for me, because none of the track info (beyond numbers) is displayed on the screen, so you have no idea what song you are selecting. Since only the first 5 playlists are accessible via the Nav/Stereo controls, more than likely you'll need to select your playlist/album/whatever from the ipod itself. However, when connected to the car, the ipod controls do not function. So, you need to open the glovebox, disconnect the ipod, make your selection, re-connect the ipod and put it back in the glovebox. On the plus side, it sounds great, the ipod is charging when connected, and everything's hidden away with no messy cables or docks visible. All in all, it's not nearly the elegant solution I was hoping for. If you don't care about rolling the cost into your car loan, I'd definitely shop around for something better.

On the Nav topic, here is an amazing oversight that I've never seen mentioned before. If you have an 06-07 A4 with Nav, you can't turn the music off without turning off the whole system (Nav and all)!!! There are hard and soft controls to skip/ff/rw/shuffle etc, but no way to pause or stop a CD/MP3/Radio broadcast!! If you want to shut the CD off, you can switch to FM or MP3, but you can't have silence without shutting the whole system off. So, if you are using Navigation and don't want to listen to music anymore, you must keep the music playing, but turn the volume all the way down!! This is such a clunky design oversight. Am I overlooking something completely obvious here? My dealer and service technician couldn't find a way around this. Can you? Anyway, beside that, I love my car.

I agree, Audi really screwed up with its IPOD integration. There are definitely alot better solutions.

With a custom piggyback cable you can get your ipod to work alongside your changer, sat radio etc.

Hey otis and everyone else for the input.

otis how much did the dealer charge to install it? Also that kinda sucks how audi designed the ipod integration...come on only the first 5 playlists.

So all of you are saying there is no other alternative to ipod integration with 06-07 a4 with nav plus except this?????

thanks again

I have an 06 with the Audi Symphony system and i was told by my dealership that Audi won't sell and Ipod adapter because they have to work out the bugs. They told my to buy the icelink system.
