I've got a Problem
I've got a 99.5 a4, i've lost the key to it. the dealership will take 2 days to get a new one, which is another problem b/c my books for class tonight are locked in it. one more problem is the dealership needs proof of ownership to get me a new key and the registration is also locked in the glovebox. so what can i do. I've got a slimjim but is it ok to use it on the lock system on this car? another thing is the dealership wants 160$ for a key and another 60$ to program it, along with the bill of having it towed to the dealership to get the key programmed, so how screwed am I?
AAA is da way to go...or any tow truck driver for that matter, it will take 5 minutes max to get ur door open...
if you want to diy you will need a wedge that you can stick between the door and the pillar and a close hanger...it'll prolly take 30 minutes and I would just call a tow truck, but if you cant $ it or what not a straightened out coat hanger will do da trick...(it's easiest when you have patience and an assistant)
you cannot program another key unless you have one in the ignition in the on position....
well, good luck...I'd say call a tow truck driver...if you don't have AAA, I think I remember paying 50$ in SD once...
