Hi.

I just bought an A4 1.8T Quattro manual.

Any tips on what I should do first, or if you can tell me if I should watch out for something?

Thanks.

First off, what year?

Then all depends on how much you want to spend on upgrades. DV would be my first choice. Fairly inexpensive and easy to install. DV= Diverter Valve.

Other than that, just keep up on maintenance.

Wow, thanks for all the tips.

Car has a lot of miles, 169000.

It's a 98, but I got it for $4000, so it was a great deal.

Right away I am going to change plugs and filter, and then also put in new brakes.

Think I should still chip it with this many miles, or just hold off?

drive the car for a few months and see how its still running.... if it still feels solid and proper maintainance has been done than i dont see why you cant try a chip.

That's a lot of miles.
I would run it for a short while to make sure she holds up ok and everything is in working order.
Replace the filters, check the hoses, flush the engine and replace the oils & coolant.

Then as long as there's no issues - I would chip it and add a stronger DV.
She'll run like brand new!
