Hey, im new here and new to Audi's in general. Made the switch from DSM's. I just bought a 96 a4 Quattro. Coolant leaks. You can I'll and I'm about 10 mins will leak out onto the passenger side. Floor board. I'm thinking something with the heater core. Can any one give some advice?

Um...what? Heater core sounds right if it's leaking in the car...if you're saying it doesn't start till the car is warm that seems even more typical of the core needing replaced.

Sorry...iPhone did that. I meant to say you can fill the antifreeze and it will leak out in about 10 mins. Thanks for deciphering that. And I know a core is about $60 or so. How tough of a job? And when I do it what antifreeze should I use. I was told to only use Audi antifreeze.

Well if you are comfortable removing your whole dash & heater box assembly you will be ok. Takes me about 12 hours.
If you have never done one look at bypassing heater core & putting sign on dash that says "summers coming" or spring some serious cash for someone that can do the job.

You should at least have a shop do the recovery of the a/c system & have them charge it back up when you are done. Unless you don't care if the a/c works or not.
Good luck!

He's coming from a dsm, so he's always up for a project. I'm only saying this because I also use to own a dsm and I know the pain you probably went through lol.

Yea it was tough my first was a 420a-T and then I finally got a 4g63 talon. Talk about high maintenance. From everyone I talked to any other car is kind of a cake walk
