Just bought a short shifter...
Hello everyone. I decided to get a short shifter and here it is. This IS the cheaper ones you find on EBAY... I saw other people had them with no problems. Question... do I need grease? Is there anything else I need to install this properly? Thanks in advance!

how much did you pay? this isnt something that could totally **** up my shifter for like 30 bucks right? i've learned that ebay alternatives are sometimes very cheaply made and dont always work as easily as they advertise....would this work with the push down reverse?
I have an ebay shifter...it works perfect and included the extra pieces to be able to keep the push down reverse. I didn't install the push down parts because I hated it and was one of the better reasons I bought it.
The installs a bitch the first time...after you do it like 10 times because you want to see every possible shift position, it's simple.
I just used some all purpose grease on the ball.

Yeah motor oil would be too thin to use... definately get some all purpose grease. Should have it in the garage anyways!
The install sort of sucked, but I could do it again in half an hour to forty five minutes, if I had to do it again.
I will actually get to test that theory... I'll be doing my dads B6 soon.

post your results, evil! i've been hovering over the 'buy it now' button on those short shifters for a few days now...it's only a matter a time....i'm not as concerned with reduced throw as much as i am with keeping the shifts smooth..how is the ebay shifter for that, bhj?
