Just Changed My DV?
Yes this 710N was purchased brand new from the dealer. My car is a 1999.5 A4 1.8T Quattro, 103,000 KM's on the engine. I can't tell if I have boost or not because I do not have a boost gauge
are you sure you installed th edv the right way and did not put it in backwards? You should be able to feel your turbo kick in between 2500-3000rpms. The higher the rpm the louder your turbo should be...the whooo noise should be more evident at higher rpms. Does your car feel slugish like its not getting power, if so then its your turbo.
no I just took the car out for a little spin, it still felt the same as before which had some decent "get up and go" when I get on the gas. But if I did install it backwards which I will check, what is the worst thing that can happen?
what he said^^^ok around 4500 is prob where your pulling the most boost, so im going to call this as your turbo is spooling...you can just hear it more clearer and louder because of the dv you just put it... you dont have to have a boost gauge to tell if your turbo is kicking in youll be able to feel it... and you dont have to have a chip to blow your turbo it is just more likely that it happens if your chipped more strain on the turbo is why.. IF your car is feeling slow then your turbo is blown!
to tell you the truch im not sure about the 710n but i know nothing happens with my forge becuase I have mine installed backwards for fitment purposes and it works fine. not sure if you can install backwards with a diaphram dv like the 710n. other than that you realy won't feel a difference when swapping out dv's on a stock car unless your old dv was bad
ok, thanks for the advice and now I feel a little better after reading that
yea maybe my old DV was not blown but I had to put in a 710N just because I am getting chipped on Saturday for $400 CND Installed (APR)

no problem, but since your getting chipped its better that you swapped out the dv. good luck with the chip, you're going to love it
the next thing i would recommend is a boost gauge since you will be boosting more its common to spring a boost leak if some of your hoses are old.
