Ok this is gonna sound like really lame, but I've just changed the oil and oil filter for my audi 2.8L and it felt awesome!
Talk about some motivation injection. I know it's no big deal, but I already bought repair manuals for the car and now I'm thinking about tackling the power steering system, bc I think there's a leak somewhere.

Anyway, felt really good to actually do something with my car and I felt like sharing with more people.

Ok...that doesn't sound lame at all...I still haven't figured out how to do it.

right on,oil change places are ok but they pull oil out and the engine tends to get really hot before they refill.not enough cooling down time.check your power steering cooling hoses as they usually are the reason for a leak.

changing the oil is easy enough... .. ESP. if you have a lift.

ifnot.. put the car on ramps/jack stands...

you will see the oil pan...

unscrew the plug on it..

drain....

pull the oil filter, if you are under the car its on the back of the engine...

after the drain, screw the plug back on...

prefil the filter w/ oil

screw on the filter..

add oil from the top...

start the engine...

after that check the oil so often to make sure your good .

That reminds me, I need to do mine soon. I know I could go somewhere and get it changed cheap, and not have a big mess on my hands, but I like working on my car. I'm always upset when I can't do something or my dad won't let me for 'safety reasons' (in which case he pays for it to be done).

yea, and when you get your oil changed at some place.. they put good ol 10W-30 maybe partial syn or no syn oil in your car.

and on top of that, they use crappy small filters..

my filter holds almost 1QT of oil.

I say a big mess is fun, and you know its done right
