Default Just a few questions, and you can help me decide

Hey all Im looking at A4s and I found 2 that I really like. The first one is a 1999 with 43,000 miles, FWD, 2.8, auto, no CD player I believem its black with black interior, just the colors I likefor $11,000. The other one is a 2000 with is Audi Certified, it has the 1.8t motor witch I have driven and didn't like, 5-speed (yay!), Quattro (another yay!), slilver/black with 38,000 miles for $13,900. The 99 has a 3 spoke steering wheel which I think denotes a sport package, the 2000 has a basic looking 4 spoker. I think the 2000 has a 100,000 mile warrentee, im going to talk to the dealer tuesday. And I heard about ball joint issues with these cars, is that true? Do you think these prices are good? I have been looking at KBB and they seem reasonable, Im going to have a trade in, and the 2000 is at a large Audi dealer, whereas the 99 is on a used car lot, so I don't know if they are willing to accept my car. Thanks for all your help! (my dad is a BMW guy, im into the Audis!) ~ Pete

Well i would personally go with the 1.8 for a few reasons. Most important is If ur going to mod, 1.8 is the way to go. You cant do much with the 2.8

1.8 sounds like a great deal at 38k miles for $13.9K!!!! Especailly certified from a dealer! oh but make sure you get all records and stuff! make sure the car is A OK before buying it, in any situation!

btw, our cars have class and spirit . something i havent seen in a bmw. Youll be much better off than your dad [sm=happy046.gif]

welcome to the forums!!

Yes the prices do seem fair huh? I do not plan on modding, I have been around this board and have heard that the 2.8 is a no no when it comes to modding. I REALLY want AWD, I go to school in the Berkshires and it would be a bit better than my 3000GT! Thanx for the quick responses, keep em coming. ~ Pete

Do the 1.8t, if for nothing else than it's a better value. (No CD player in the 2.8? WTF?? Did the previous owner take it with him?) Plus, it'll be more fun even if you aren't gonna mod it. Quattro, manual, two plusses.

I have a fairly fast 1.8t, and if i had to do over, the s/c 2.8 looks awful nice.

Will someone buy the 1.8ltr pleeeeeease.. It is much better value... easier to do up. Besides who wants an Auto & a car without a cd player (thats got me stumped, who the f*** would want a stock audi cd player?) Anywho... go the 1.8 dude... Manual, quattro, turbo & black? What more do you want?
