A month ago i bought a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro the stock horsepower is 170 my question is what's the safest/most reliable way to up the horsepower to just 200HP

This is a classic question. I'd search the archives and you'll find that you should chip it and get a good cat-back exhaust. This topic is discussed inside and out all the time. If you are really stuck on keeping the Hp gain down to 200, then chipping and an exhaust is overkill. You might get pretty close with the exhaust alone.

 

okay first of all i'd like to thanks you for the welcome and intro to your forum and i guess what i wanted to add was i still have six onths on the new car/manufacturer warrenty and then another two years for the audi certified I've been readings up on your archives and also at audiworld and i guess my first step will be to find something other than chipping because right now its just not what i want.

 

Anything you do to your car is going to void your warranty. If that is your concern, than I'd wait until your warranty is up.

 

I dont think you'll have to worry about getting 30hp from an exhaust system. YOur three year warranty is almost up, just wait and then have your car chipped. that will bring you to around 200
