Default just a muffler...question

Aight, before i get flamed here....this is something i really do not have much knowledge on. I'm not a ricer or any kinda **** like that...but basically I wanted an exhaust system for my 2.8. Well instead of getting a full exhaust...would I be able to just put on a new muffler + tips? It would asthetically look much nicer than it does now, and it would give me a better sound. A full exhaust would help the engine with air flow, but realistically..it would not add much power or anything.

Has anyone just added a muffler? If so, which one?...where did you get it from?

sure... the cheapest route if you are just wanting a muffler is to get an exhaust shop to slap a custom one on.. or choice some of the main brands such as:

borla, magnaflow, well thats the only 2 i can think of that are most popular

my magnaflow sounded like garbage until it hit 4k rpms...than it sounded really nice, but i took it off cuz it was just too loud for what im trying to accomplish on my audi.

Borla is a good "Non Rice" option IMO, I didn't want anything too loud when I got mine...

Here's a vid for a reference...

thats a 1.8T, the sound is totally different than a 2.8 with exhaust.

anyways, I cut out my resonator, and replaced it with a straight tube, and threw on some exhaust tips, looks failr stock but clean and sounds very mean....good luck

So post up a vid then, if it sounds so much different than a 1.8T, I'm curious...

Try searching for socalaudi 's post about his exhaust install.. he had a vid/sound clip on here too somewhere....

Check VB05 too for sound clips.. Hes got a nice remus muffler.. Probably my favorite sounding muffler of anyone on here that ive heard.. But aftermarket exhausts/mufflers tend to sound a little better on a 2.8, its a more subtle yet high pitched and throaty sound..
