Just ordered a bov
I was surging, I had compressor surge, which is basically compressor stall. When off the gas, not enough air escaped through the bpv and has to go back out the turbo comp housing
Whoops I meant to say, I wasnt surging**, It wasnt like suring power at wot, I know what your talking about cause my ko4 used to do that, thats usually wastegate frequency valve related. This was different

i like bov's just because my friend has a 94 supra and it sounds pretty bad. But on a audi dude you gotta keep it stealthy and subtle not vrrrrring vrriing pssssik when your going 15 mph. Just an opinion.

IMO a bov on stock motronic ecu is kinda lame. Why would you want to lack performance, and possibly bore wash your motor, just to get a "cool" sound. I'd rather have a bpv, but I dont run an inlet on my turbo, and my ecu permits me to use a bov.
Another thing to remember, I was running rich for about 14 months, and after a compression check about 2 months ago, My compression was about 140psi which is a very pathetic number considering my motor only had 85k mi on it. Mainer on here has 205k mi on his car and when we compression checked it it was 160 across the board... Just showing you that bore wash is a very serious issue. another 6 months of that and I'd need a rebuild

The article is good but it misses a couple things.
A bov is not open at idle. If it was than the dbc audis running them would not idle. The air is metered by the maf, and then it escapes the system, and since the dbc cars have no map sensor, the idle would be terrible. This is the same thing as blowing a charge pipe for you dbc people. the idle is really crappy.
The other thing is when lifting off the gas, the air in the intake tract is metered and expected to go into combustion so that equivalent amt of fuel is injected by the ecu. However when lifting off the gas, the metered air leaves the intake tract and the ecu doesnt know, so the proper amot of fuel will go into the combustion chamber, but not enough air will causing a rich mix.
I dont see why cars with a map would have a problem running a bov if the maf was unplugged
