just tryiny to find info out
im looking at a a-4 n i am just wandering sum spec about them. the model is a 2.8 n i was just wandering what theyre like at about 150,000 mi so ne info would help. performance mods also, ur input greatly appreciated
Well you didn't say what year the 2.8 is. The 96-97 model years have a 12v engine which puts out about 172hp while the 1998+ 2.8's are 30v and put outlike 190 hp. The 12v engine, while not as powerful has more engine mods and is more reliable. If you are going to buy one of these, you must ensure it has had its timing belt changed recently. It has to be changed every 60k miles or so. If it goes, it will destroy the engine. Audi's tend to be fairly expensive to maintain, but if you are able to do some of your own maintenance you should be fine.

I have a 12v engine (97 year). I am quite happy with it. Most people will tell you to get a 30v because all they see is horsepower numbers. But this engine is much smoother and fluid. I've upgraded my MAF to stage 3, installed a velocity stack, and have a racing throttle body coming next week. I'd say i'm every bit as fast as the newer 2.8's.Sorry i'm ranting a little bit here.Did you have any more questions??

The 12v engine is not able to be chipped. It has an older Hitatchi chipset that can not be reprogrammed. If you are looking for a fast horsepower boost you should check out the 12v forum over at www.audiworld.com . A gentleman by the screename of UrS4 sells a handful of engine upgrades at reasonable prices. I can't help you with the exhaust or headers though, I havnt gotten around to doing any other mods than what I already have.
